French: La Voiture des Garnier

In the new year, the girls have started reading a series of stories titled Marc et Sylvie.  They provide a wonderful context for learning new vocabulary and grammar.  The girls begin each story by taking turns reading it aloud.  Then, volunteers act it out for the class.  This week, we read about "La Voiture des Garnier" (The Garnier Family's Car).  In the picture below, you can see Monsieur Garnier asking his children, Marc and Sylvie, to wash his dirty red Peugeot.  The family dog, Nipi, eventually joins them and drinks the dirty water used to clean the car!

Art: Passports to Adventure

The girls are helping prepare for this year's Read-A-Thon launch next Friday.  They have been chosen to make the bookmarks for the entire Lower School.  The decision to choose 4th grade was obvious - after all, they are the grade that travels the world!  They are designing bookmarks inspired by image searches from countries around the world.

Math: Fraction Fun!!

We are well into our unit on fractions and having a great time.  After learning some basic fraction skills like making equivalent fractions and putting fractions in simplest form/lowest terms, we were able to start adding fractions and mixed numbers with like and unlike denominators.

Today, the girls had the chance to correct the work of Lizzie L. Lizard, a math student who did some good work, but didn't put all of her answers in the correct form.  They corrected Lizzie's work and wrote some very helpful comments on Lizzie's paper.
